New Xenoblade Chronicles 2 DLC Info Shared, Shulk and Fiora Being Added Friday

Xenoblade Chronicles fans will be really feeling it this week as Shulk and Fiora will be joking Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on Friday when Challenge Battle Mode is added to the acclaimed JRPG on Friday.

The fanservice heavy information was shared this morning during a demonstration of the game by the Nintendo Treehouse at E3. The new Challenge Battle Mode was showcased and debuted with a cutscene having Shulk and Fiora stumble into Rex and his crew when they all are transported into a new challenge realm. The characters interact and both Shulk and Fiora join Rex’s team as usable Blades.

At this time, it appears that the callback characters will only be playable within the Challenge Battle Mode, which has the player facing off against waves of enemies in different tiers of difficulty. In addition, their are separate special quests to be made available that will put the player in control of Jin or other members of Torna, recreating some of the iconic scenes of the main story from a different perspective.

Software Update 1.5.0, which includes the Challenge Battle Mode for those that have purchased the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Expansion Pass, is slated to release tomorrow night at 10 PM PT.

In addition, more details and a trailer for the next big part of the Expansion Pass were given during Tuesday’s Nintendo E3 Direct, which confirm that Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna ~ The Golden Country ~ will be the story DLC coming later this year. This expansive DLC will serve as a prequel to the main story of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and put the player in during the time of the great Aegis War. This package will be so large in gameplay that it will also be offered separately from the main game at retail when it launches on September 21.
