Demonstrate your devotion
Dark Souls: Remastered presents a unique opportunity to revisit the From Software title that started it all. It is an unexpected item for a Nintendo console, and it has most people very excited. As a Switch title, the project brings a few exciting possibilities to both game and console—including amiibo functionality.
Nintendo and From Software recently announced a Solaire of Astora amiibo for Dark Souls: Remastered. It is the most realistic amiibo we have seen yet, and it features Solaire in his classic ‘Praise the Sun’ pose.
It is likely most fans will collect the amiibo simply as a collector’s item. In fact, those looking for a lot of functionality out of the figure might be disappointed. It has been confirmed that the only thing Solaire does for you is praise the sun, performing the iconic gesture with each tap. A handy tool for practicing one’s devotion, but not much else.
Like most others of its kind, the Solaire amiibo will be sold separately for $12.99. It releases alongside the game on May 25, 2018.
In related news, Dark Souls: Remastered will soon be having its first network test on the console. The test is reminiscent of what was done for Dark Souls II and III on consoles, and will likely give fans a brief, online demo.
More information on the network test is said to come soon. In the meantime, expect Dark Souls this summer.
