Nintendo Unveils New Pearl and Marina Amiibo for Splatoon 2

Not done yet: Seemingly out of the blue, Nintendo has revealed that a dual Amiibo pack for both Pearl and Marina from Splatoon 2’s Off The Hook idol band will be releasing later this year.

The set was revealed yesterday on the official Nintendo regional social media accounts. This comes just a day after a holographic concert was put on in Japan that featured the two characters alongside the Squid Sisters — Callie and Marie — from the original Splatoon. Following in their path, Pearl and Marina will be making their Amiibo debut over a year after their game’s launch.

At this stage, it is known that these Amiibo will function similar to the Callie and Marie figures as well, allowing players to earn special gear and take in-game photos with the duo. While the functionality is rather small, it is a good indicator that Splatoon 2 will continue receiving support throughout 2018 with ongoing updates and in-game additions.

It was learned shortly after the reveal that the two Amiibo will only be available together as a dual pack sold at $24.99 MSRP. In addition, it was also announced today that Splatoon 2 will be receiving a new “Starter Edition” that will come with a 100-page strategy guide and two sticker sheets for those that have held out on purchasing the title until now.
