Say it ain’t so, Miitomo: Nintendo announced yesterday that they are concluding services on their first mobile app for good as of May 9 of this year.
Miitomo will end its service at 12:00 AM (PDT) on 5/9/2018, and we want to thank you for your support since the Miitomo app’s launch.
Miitomo launced back on March 31 of 2016. Within its first 4 months it had 10 million downloads, but interest in their experimental social media app quickly waned, with many users deleting the app entirely after merely a couple weeks. Just yesterday, Nintendo also shut down the function for buying coins in-game — seemingly in preparation for the upcoming end of service. The company has also offered up a Q&A support page for users on their official website.
For those of you who enjoyed Miitomo while it lasted, we have a little over 3 months left for a last hoorah. Nintendo is giving massive daily log-in rewards of 2000 coins and 5 game tickets per day until this ending date. This means that dedicated fans can buy whatever outfits they want in order to tie up all loose ends with the app.
If you continue to play, make sure to download all of your miiphotos to your mobile device, and transfer any sidekick miis to QR codes or they will be lost forever after early May.
Finally, we at B-Button Media would like to welcome you, our readers, to share with us your favorite answers and miiphotos with whatever gamertag you’d like to go by. We will post them all to our website on May 9 to send off the app with a blast.
