The news was announced during Thursday morning’s Nintendo Direct Mini as part of a lineup of ports and new titles coming to the hybrid system. As it appears, the title will see some graphical improvements to run at the Switch’s native 1080P compared to the Wii U’s 720P. In addition, it was also confirmed that the enhanced version will come with new-yet-familiar character Funky Kong as part of a new “chill” mode.
According to Nintendo’s explanation, playing as Funky Kong will act almost as a type of easy mode for new players or experienced players who want a simpler go of things. The radical ape will reportedly feature an infinite roll and a surfboard that will both allow him to float as well as jump on spikes.
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze originally released on Wii U in February of 2014 and acted as a sequel to Donkey Kong Country Returns.
