BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle Tabbed with June 5 Release; 20 DLC Characters Planned

Esteemed fighting game developer Arc System Works has confirmed that their upcoming crossover fighter BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle will release in North America on June 5 — with 20 additional characters planned for DLC.

The release and DLC plans were announced early this morning alongside the publishing of a new trailer for the 2D fighter title. The footage shows off each fighter already confirmed for the base roster in a duo fashion, showing some short gameplay of each as well. By the end of the video, Blake Belladonna from the RWBY web animation series was confirmed as the first DLC character set for the game, with 19 more coming after launch this Summer. The purchasable DLC is laid out as follows:

DLC Character All-in-One Pack

DLC Character: Blake Belladonna

DLC Character Set Vol. 1: ???, ???, and ???

DLC Character Set Vol. 2: ???, ???, and ???

DLC Character Set Vol. 3: ???, ???, and ???

DLC Character Set Vol. 4: ???, ???, and ???

DLC Character Set Vol. 5: ???, ???, and ???

DLC Character Set Vol. 6: ???, ???, and ???

DLC Character: ???

As far as DLC is concerned, the plan for 20 characters on top of 20 already confirmed for the base roster is somewhat unprecedented in terms of size. No pricing details for this additional content has been made known quite yet, but success will surely be dependent on how much Arc System Works tries to charge for each character in comparison to the base cost of the game.

BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle is set to release on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC this early June.
