This winter, it’s man vs. ape
It’s winter—the season of the yeti. But the poor apes aren’t doing so well in some places (like suburban Minnesota, for example). In Jeff Kaplan’s latest fireside Overwatch chat, he described an unfortunate incident of poaching taking place in Overwatch.
Or something like that anyways. Though Mei’s Snowball Offensive will be returning this year, Mei is expanding her enterprise to include yeti hunting. Mei’s Yeti Hunt is a new event available to players this holiday season.
The event takes place in the traditional poaching form—many hunters working together to isolate and kill a single animal. In Mei’s Yeti Hunt, six Mei’s team up against one yeti (Winston). Armed with their snow cannons, this might seem like an easy fight. But the yeti still has their natural weapons, along with the ability to go berserk (by collecting meat scattered about the stage).
Mei’s Yeti Hunt, along with the other festivities, begins December 12. With the event will come the return of previous winter skins and new ones for Hanzo, Junkrat and Roadhog (to name a few). But it’s a sick celebration that’s destroying our beloved yetis.
Stop the madness, Jeff Kaplan. All yetis deserve respect, dammit.
