The first crossover of Turtles and Batman
NetherRealm Studios recently announced its latest DLC for DC fighting game Injustice 2. The pack brings Enchantress and Atom to the roster—along with a few very surprising additions.
Towards the end of the trailer, as Atom and Enchantress are about to face-off, a sai lands between them. Before our racing minds can tell us what this means, we see the answer—the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles appear from the shadows.
The move to include Leonardo, Raphael, Michelangelo and Donatello in Injustice 2 is beyond what anyone could have expected. The Turtles have not made an appearance in a fighting game since TMNT: Tournament Fighters, back in the ‘90s. And they certainly have not shared the spotlight with Batman ever before.
The Fighter Pack to include all of these characters is also a rarity in that all previous ones only include three characters. Given this history, it may be safe to assume that the Turtles will appear as some sort of joint character. Either each Turtle will appear as supports to one selected, or they will function as some joint ‘Turtles’ character. Hopefully, the Turtles won’t receive the Pokemon Trainer treatment of Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
Little is known about the Turtles yet as nothing has been revealed beyond the trailer. Leonardo’s final line to Michelangelo (“We fight as a team, Mikey.”) does suggest they will be a joint character. But we can be thankful that they don’t appear as they did in the most recent movies.
The Atom is set to release for Injustice 2 on December 12. The Enchantress will come in January and the Turtles after that, in February.
Injustice 2 is additionally set to release on PC on November 14.
