True to form, it is on an epic scale
Earlier this morning, Bandai Namco released a new trailer for Dragon Ball FighterZ on its official Twitter page. The latest video includes new details on the cryptic story mode and the equally-mysterious Android 21.
The story begins when an army of clones appears in the DBZ universe. Apparently, cloned from other DBZ characters, the clones look to be evil versions of our heroes. The Goku clone, for example, is dressed entirely in black, with muted hair and red eyes to boot.
At the same time these clones appear, our DBZ heroes fall unconscious. Though Goku is the only one seen to suffer from this thus far, it’s suggested this leads to memory loss. The Dragon Ball FighterZ story seems to focus in large part on piecing together what happened.
Across the story mode’s three arcs, players will link with various DBZ fighters. These characters will assist them in their quest to discover what happened and stop the clone army.
Android 21 appears in Dragon Ball FighterZ as the story’s apparent main villain. Assisted by Android 16, it would seem she is responsible for the clone army’s appearance and that she has some mysterious larger goal in mind.
Given how she speaks in the trailer, we wonder if there might be some connection to Cell or Buu involved. Though a number of characters in the DBZ universe have eaten or absorbed others, these are the only characters in the roster capable of such. But it would also be the first time we have heard of an android with this power.
Android 21 additionally seems to be quite powerful, as she is seen wielding a dark energy similar to Frieza’s own in appearance.
Dragon Ball FighterZ releases on January 26, 2018. For more information, see the trailer below.
