Destiny 2 Expansion I: Curse of Osiris Revealed, Coming December 5

Hot off the heels of the base game’s release, fans of the Bungie developed shooter Destiny 2 need not wait long for the title’s first expansion — Curse of Osiris — which will launch on December 5.

Initially revealed with a trailer as part of PlayStation’s Paris Games Week Conference, even more details about the upcoming extension of the Destiny 2 story have since been released. While the footage showcases mostly cinematic sequences with some gameplay, the official Destiny 2 website lays out what players can expect from this first package:

Destiny 2 Expansion I: Curse of Osiris continues your Guardian’s journey with all-new story missions and adventures set in a new destination, Mercury. Journey through time and space to learn the secrets of Osiris, avert a dark future, and rebuild the ties between the legendary Warlock and his greatest student – Ikora Rey.

Explore Mercury and its mysterious “Infinite Forest”

New story missions and adventures

New themed weapons, armor, and gear to earn

New cooperative activities

New competitive multiplayer arenas

And more…

Previously, Expansion I was only listed for a “Winter 2017” release. Although details on Expansion II are still slim outside of a “Spring 2018” window, Destiny 2 owners can still purchase the game’s Expansion Pass, which grants access to both bundles of content as soon as they are released. This offer is available for each version of the game separately — PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC — and can be purchased for the suggested retail price of $34.99. Otherwise, through the website, potential buyers can craft their own purchase of either the base game + Expansion Pass for $89.99 MSRP, or the Digital Deluxe Edition for $99.99 MSRP.

Destiny 2
originally released for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on September 6. At this time, no further additional or DLC content plans for after Expansion II have been discussed, yet it is likely that given game popularity, support will continue.
