ArenaNet’s 2012 MMORPG, Guild Wars 2 is about to get its second major expansion, Path of Fire. If the previous expansion, Heart of Thorns was anything to go by, longtime players and newcomers alike have a lot to look forward to with this expansion.
Path of Fire returns players to a region from Guild Wars 1 called the Elona Desert. The beta gave players a chance to see a small part of this gorgeous new setting which seems to be full of areas to explore, especially with a brand new system they’re adding to Guild Wars 2: mounts. ArenaNet promises that the mounts will be more than simple speed boosters as they often are in other games, but instead they will be useful exploration tools like the glider in Heart of Thorns.
In addition to the new mounts, Path of Fire adds new story missions to go with the Elona Desert, and a few other major features. Level 80 characters can access new class specializations that give them new skills and proficiency with a new weapon. This adds to the already huge amount of customization to character abilities that Guild Wars 2 offers.
Guild Wars 2: Path of Fire will be available on September 22. If pre-purchased before the release date, players can get a small bonus. The expansion can be bought in one of three packages: Standard for $29.99, Deluxe for $54.99, or Ultimate for $79.99 MSRP.
