The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Champions Amiibo Coming November 10; Functionality Revealed

The Amiibo line based on the four Champions from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of The Wild — Daruk, Urbosa, Mipha, and Revali — is set to hit store shelves mid-November.

During Wednesday’s Nintendo Direct presentation, the in-game functionality of each figurine was also detailed. While there could still be other uses, the primary function at this time seems to be a means to unlocking special wearable helms based on the heads of each of the four divine beasts. These include Vah Ruta, Vah Rudania, Vah Medoh, and Vah Naboris — and each is unlocked by a different Amiibo.

Interestingly enough, Nintendo did not give any further information about the upcoming Champions Ballad DLC as part of DLC Pack 2 for Breath of the Wild, simply noting that these helms would serve some type of purpose. No release date for the DLC has been confirmed, yet it is a possibility that it could launch simultaneously with the Amiibo line, given their connection.

It should be noted as well that the four Champions Amiibo can be purchased either as a multi-pack or individually. Currently, each are listed on Best Buy’s website, yet all have a “Coming Soon” tag.
