UPDATE: Axiom Verge will hit the Nintendo Switch eShop on October 5.
Axiom Verge creator and developer Tom Happ took to Twitter today to reveal some bittersweet news: physical release is getting delayed, but an eShop version may come early.
So the physical Axiom Verge will be pushed back a couple weeks … but the Switch eShop version can launch early! Should we move it up?

Although the physical Multiverse Edition was intended to release on October 17, the Metroidvania style title will now launch a “couple weeks” later on PlayStation 4, Vita, Nintendo Switch, and Wii U. Reason for the delay is unknown, but seeing as how the game may be able to launch earlier than expected on the eShop, it is likely an issue involving the physical publisher.
Axiom Verge originally released in 2015 on PlayStation 4 first, with PC, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, and Wii U digital versions coming later on. The game has been acclaimed due to its stunning 16-bit graphical style and refreshing take on the classic platformer/RPG gameplay style.
