Shovel Knight Amiibo 3-Pack Revealed; Collaboration With No More Heroes Confirmed

A three pack of Amiibo based on Plague Knight, Specter Knight, and King Knight has been revealed — along with Shovel Knight’s inclusion in Travis Strikes Back: No More Heroes.

Revealed as part of the annual Nindies@Night event held by Nintendo, the announcement trailer was put together by developer Yacht Club Games, Game Grumps, and popular YouTuber Arin “Egoraptor” Hanson. The footage shows off the new figurines one-by-one, and goes over just some of the details on their functionality. The official PR from Yacht Club elaborates:

Exclusive armor set for each character!

Don a more sinister attire with Lich Lord Specter Knight and play in style! These unique armors are cosmetic only so you can mix and match them with your favorite armor effects already found in the game!

New amiibo Challenge Stages!

Take on additional Challenge Stages as your favorite character and put your skills to the test!

Summon amiibo Fairy Companions!

Fairies are in the air! Like the Fairy of Shovelry, these fairies take flight to accompany you on any campaign, all the while bringing a little extra joy to your adventures! Don’t worry though, they won’t get in your way or mess with your gameplay!

While no release date for the pack was discussed, numerous promotional materials state that it is “coming soon to stores”. Presumably, the Amiibo would hit market prior to the launch of King Knight’s campaign — King of Cards — early next year.

In addition, Yacht Club Games is confirmed to be collaborating with developer Grasshopper Manufacture on the newly announced Travis Strikes Back: No More Heroes — bringing Shovel Knight into the game in some form. It is the second indie game to be confirmed as being included in the title, following Hotline Miami.

A couple days ago, we reported on the unveiling of both No More Heroes as well as Shovel Knight: King of Cards.
