3D Remake of Secret of Mana Announced for Steam, PS4, and Vita

One of the most critically acclaimed RPGs of all-time — Secret of Mana — is being remade for the 3D era on Steam, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita.

Much to the surprise of longtime fans, a short trailer featuring an intro and brief cutscene footage was published by storied developer Square Enix today. While little info is known at the moment, it appears that at least the plot and characters will remain faithful to the original title so far, and as a “remake”, it is likely that gameplay will as well.

Unsurprisingly, the new 3D models of the game bear striking resemblance to the chibi-like style of the recently released Ever Oasis on Nintendo 3DS, which featured some of the same developers from the original Secret of Mana. However, it appears that this remake will have voice acting in some capacity, although it is not known how extensive that may be.

Originally released in 1993 for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, the 3D remake of Secret of Mana is slated to release February 15, 2018 on the three platforms.
