Axiom Verge to Release October 17 on Switch

Axiom Verge — the popular Metroid-style side scroller from creator Tom Happ — is set to release on Nintendo Switch in a couple months.

Although the port was originally intended to release this month, the release date was confirmed to be October 17 by the official Twitter account today. Previously, retailers had only listed a vague release window — listed simply as “August 2017”. No other details have been given at this time.

Axiom Verge originally released in 2015 on PlayStation 4 first, with PC, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, and Wii U digital versions coming later on. The game has been acclaimed due to its stunning 16-bit graphical style and refreshing take on the classic platformer/RPG gameplay style.

A physical “Multiverse Edition” release of the title is planned for Switch, as well as Wii U, PS4, and Vita. This special package is set to cost $29.99 MSRP and come with several goodies, such as an exclusive poster, art book, and developer documentary disc.
