A group of data miners on Reddit have seemingly spilled the beans on what looks to be a plethora of upcoming content for Splatoon 2.
Compiled with images as well as in game text and data logs, the post details the weapons and stages that will most likely be coming to the popular multiplayer shooter as add-on content. While some stages are already known from the latest Splatoon 2 focused Nintendo Direct — such as the underpass and pirate ship stages — returning variations of Kelp Dome and Blackbelly Skatepark were found as part of the latest software update. Apparently, two new stages for Salmon Run have been tested as well.
In terms of weapons, most appear to be classes teased as part of the latest Direct as well. The data includes a new weapon type dubbed “The Squeezer”, as well as the Brella type weapon that is currently only available for use in Hero Mode. In addition, Salmon Run variants seem to be in production for another Blaster, Charger, and the aforementioned Brella.
Finally, the seemingly inescapable theory of playable Octolings has once again resurfaced, with multiple new character model parameters found. While no images, models, audio, or text were found for the Octoling data, parameter values for “Oct” as well as “OctBoy” were discovered. However, as we know from the ongoing saga concerning playable Octolings in Splatoon, there is potential that this code is in reference to enemy models and nothing more.
While none of this information explicitly confirms when or if this content will be coming to Splatoon 2, it grants it a high likelihood. Only time will tell what data will see the light of day, so updates will be given as they become known.
