Developer Square Enix has officially revealed Dragon Quest Builders 2 — a sequel to 2016’s acclaimed Dragon Quest sandbox role playing game.
The announcement was made as part of the 2017 Dragon Quest Summer Festival in Japan. Some of the new features include underwater exploration, gliding, and cooperative multiplayer capabilities. The first official gameplay footage was also shown off.
Similar to the first installment, Dragon Quest Builders 2 looks to feature a Minecraft-esque aesthetic with typical Dragon Quest anime character design. Action elements are also present, such as battling monsters and destroying terrain in order to cause landform changes.
Although the first Builders title launched only on Sony platforms, Dragon Quest Builders 2 will release on both PlayStation 4 as well as Nintendo Switch. No release date has been given at this time.
