Originally released in August of last year, Overcooked is now getting more recent attention in the form of a ‘Special Edition’ release for the Nintendo Switch. This past Sunday, the game’s publisher, Team17, released a short video on their YouTube channel confirming Overcooked’s exclusive crossover onto the Nintendo Switch on July 27.
The Switch version includes all of the regular content of the previous PC, PS4 and Xbox One releases, in addition to all of the game’s current DLC releases on those platforms. According to the official website of Nintendo’s UK branch, Overcooked: Special Edition will also make use of the unique features of the Nintendo Switch, including HD rumble integration and local co-op for up to four players.
For those unfamiliar with the game, Overcooked is an arcade-style cooking game developed by Ghost Town Games and published by Team17. Players, as chefs in a busy kitchen, are tasked with maintaining this kitchen under the pressure of a time limit, with the ultimate goal being the preparation of as many meals as possible before the timer runs out. Meals and tasks vary across levels and areas, in addition to some particularly zany hazards, such as being required to work across two moving trucks or inside a haunted mansion.
